We are Essenburgh. For 50 years, we’ve given people the insight to solve tomorrow’s problems today.
Curious about who we are? Or where we come from? Essenburgh has been around since the middle of the last century. Read on below for a glimpse into our history.
OUR
TIMELINE
1950s-60s
In 1950 a group of Fathers of the Order of the Norbertines settled on the estate ‘De Essenburgh’ in Hierden. They founded a Priory here: a monastery and a study house. At the end of 1968, the Essenburgh Training Center was established. In the early years, the focus was mainly on supporting people and organizations in the event of loss and change.
70s
Soon after its foundation, Essenburgh developed into an independent organization separate from the monastery. Training days are organized for secondary school students. And Essenburgh has been providing Pensioen in Zicht® training courses since 1972. In the early years the link with the Norbertines is still clearly present. Evening courses are also offered on the subjects of Bible study and the development of faith communities.
The 80’s
From the 1980s, the Norbertines withdrew and more trainers were hired to provide all training. Essenburg’s attention is expanding to new themes, including Relatives after suicide and training for care providers on dealing with suicide.
The 90’s
From 1991, more training courses are set up for professionals, such as for the police, fire brigade and employees of secondary and higher education. Volunteer organizations such as Victim Support and terminal home care also know where to find Essenburgh.
00s
Society is changing and Essenburgh is changing with it. During the economic crisis of 2008-2009, the hotel and conference part of Kasteel de Essenburgh is sold and Essenburgh focuses specifically on training and advice. And research is also getting more and more attention. In addition to Pension in sight, training courses on the subject of Leadership Development are an important part of Essenburgh’s activities.
10s
Due to the new focus on scientific research, the theme ‘Organization in healthcare’ has a permanent place within Essenburgh’s attention. Healthcare innovation is becoming increasingly important, also as a subject for training and consultancy work. The three pillars Pension in sight, Leadership and Care innovation form the basis of Essenburgh, with people as the central point.
What has remained the same
Essenburgh’s focus is to support people and organizations with change.
And work together on just, responsible and feasible solutions for the future!
