The first line seems to be increasingly sidelined in the Netherlands. Healthcare financiers are increasingly focusing on the hospital. But the dominant focus on cost-cutting in hospitals is not going to solve the problems we face in healthcare. We need to go back to the basics and build from there. Value-driven care models from abroad can help us do this.

Both Value Based Healthcare (VBHC) and Triple Aim claim to be the solution to the increasing demand and costs for healthcare in the Netherlands. Both concepts are often referred to as value-driven care in the same breath. But is that right, are the principles of both concepts the same? We can be brief about that: no. In this blog I zoom in on the two concepts and highlight the three main differences.
